Picking and enjoying a perfectly ripe mulberry is a favorite summer past time for many Nebraskans! Two species of Mulberry trees can be found in Nebraska, though only the red variant is native. They are often found near woodland edges but can do well in urban environments such as backyards or even next to a sidewalk! Mulberries make an excellent pie filling, topping on desserts, and for many, a delicious treat to enjoy along the hike.
